JEREMIAH 2:1-3, 7-8, 12-13
PSALM 36
JOHN 20:1-2, 11-18
The prophet Jeremiah speaks about how the people have forsaken their Lord, "the source of living waters and they have built their own cisterns that hold no water."
The prophet calls people back to the Lord who seeks to give them life and light.
Mary Magdalene is the first witness to the Resurrection.
Mary thinks Jesus' body has been taken away.
Mary however "sees" Jesus and "clings" to him.
Mary is told to stop "holding on."
Jesus tells Mary to go with a message to the "brothers".
The message is that Jesus goes to the Father.
Mary is the first to "see" the Lord and testifies "to the brothers":
"I have seen the Lord."
We too have seen the Lord.
We too can testify to Jesus who died and rose for us.
