Father McSherry's Homilies

JEREMIAH 1, 1, 4-10
PSALM 71
MATTHEW 13:1-9

Jeremiah is reluctant.
Jeremiah is too young.
Jeremiah did not "know how to speak."

Jeremiah is relying on Jeremiah and all of his reasons for not speaking the prophetic word make sense.

The Lord has other ideas and touches Jeremiah.
Jeremiah's mouth,
words and
life are transformed.

Jesus touches others with his words,
with the seed of the word,
with the divine favor that emanates from him.

The seed falls in various places and has varying effects.
The seed of the word falls among us today.

We ask today to be "rich and productive soil" for the word that comes to transform us and produce fruit in us.

We are invited
to hear,
to receive,
to produce.
