The Courtyard:
Our sacred space is not wasted as in Gothic architecture. The courtyard gives us more room to be used for overflow and processions. Also, it is a concept of insulation and peacefulness from the outside world by the wide court surrounding the glass core, giving us kinship to the temple of Jerusalem.

The Courtyard The company of Angels
(52 of them)
adorning the walls of the outer church, proclaim the Kingdom of God upon earth, the holy city, the new Jerusalem coming down from heaven. They stand in majestic splendor surrounding the throne of God, singing the never ending "Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of Hosts."

What began as architecture by worship, not worship by architecture, explains many of the features of St. Patrick's Church.
