The Altar:
Our Altar is made of natural stone, not only because it is durable and strong, but also for a symbolic reason. The altar represents Christ-the-Rock, the corner-stone. It consists of one single strong slab, unbroken, symbolizing the personal Unity of Christ. We have the Church constructed of the most natural material... the glass looks like glass, the concrete looks like concrete. The pews, made by men of the parish, have just a light stain to preserve the natural finish of the wood.

Dossal and Alter The Dossal
The "wall" made up of gold leafed cinder blocks behind the altar is called the "Dossal Screen". This is a special background built for ornament's sake. In some seasons there may be a painting, an ornamental banner or a hanging of some rich fabric, placed in front of it to indicate the spirit of the season which we are celebrating."

What began as architecture by worship, not worship by architecture, explains many of the features of St. Patrick's Church.
